Hi, I’m Nathan “Nate” Hollis — the guy behind AnalyticsTutor.
I’m a web analytics consultant with over 15 years of hands-on experience helping businesses turn raw data into real insights. But beyond the job title, I’m someone who genuinely loves analytics. I believe that understanding user behavior isn’t just good for business — it’s exciting, empowering, and kind of addicting (in the best way).

📊 Why I Started AnalyticsTutor
After years of working with tools like Google Analytics, GA4, GTM, BigQuery, and Looker Studio, I realized one thing:
A lot of smart people feel completely lost when it comes to web analytics.
It’s not their fault. Most documentation is confusing. Most tutorials are either too basic or too technical. And don’t get me started on the endless buzzwords.
So I created this site to bridge that gap.
My goal is simple:
To make web analytics practical, understandable, and — dare I say — enjoyable.
Whether you’re a marketer, developer, freelancer, or just curious about your website data, you’ll find step-by-step guides, clear explanations, and real-world examples here. No fluff. No BS. Just stuff that works.
🧰 What You’ll Learn Here
- How to set up Google Analytics 4 the right way
- Tagging and event tracking with Google Tag Manager
- Sending data to BigQuery and making sense of it
- Creating reports people actually use
- Debugging, testing, and troubleshooting setups
- …and a few hard-earned tricks I wish someone had told me years ago
🧠 My Approach
I teach the way I wish someone had taught me — with context, with plain English, and with respect for your time.
You’ll notice most tutorials here come from real client challenges, personal experiments, or late-night rabbit holes where I was too stubborn to give up.
If something doesn’t work, I say it. If there’s a shortcut, I share it.
And if I ever say “this is the best way,” I’ll always tell you why.
📍Where I’m Based
I live in Austin, Texas, where I split my time between client work, writing, and drinking way too much cold brew. When I’m not geeking out over dashboards, I’m probably biking around town or reading old detective novels.
